Over the Top

The bugle sounds,
the soldiers sise,
from the hellish trenches,
to the wind swept plains.
New men arrive,
full of boyish joy,
they join the line of beaten
souls,
of walking dead,
that were once,
like them.
The bugle sounds,
they line up in rows.
Ready to charge,
their deadly foe.
Over the Top,
the papers say.
An early grave,
is all the soldiers
see.
"Take the fight to the
enemy.
See the whites of their,
eyes."
More like the shells,
from their guns,
as they fire through our,
Line.
The Bugle sounds.
They rise as
One.

The Worldly King

From the steppes
and frost covered hills
descends a man who
will bend the world
to his will.
Before he can begin
his earthly quest,
revenge must be his
for his fathers death.
He thunders across
the open plains,
leading the power
of the East.
None can stand before
his relentless force.
His foes are vanquished,
banished to the past.
Alexander is fallen and
Rome is no more,
the time for the Kahns
is nigh.
This man is a
Warlord,
the greatest of all.
He is Ghengis Kahn
the Horse-Lord and
Warrior King
from the East.

Trials of War

The brave sons
of our land
who left for
war.
To fight for all
and a just cause.
To free the world
from the grip of death
only to have
death grip them.
In the beaches and
deserts you fought
for all.
Like rats in a trap you
held back the tides of war.

From the jungles to the sea
you were always the first
and last to fall.
Untrained you were but
like Gods you fought,
sacrificing your lives
so we could see a
new day rise.
Left as Boys,
Fell as Men.
Returned from the world
As Mighty
ANZACS!

War Time Horror

The noise roused him from unconsciousness, his ears were ringing after the last barrage. All around him lay his friends, comrades frozen in time, forever silent. " Charge! Come on lads one more push and the day is ours." His voice was drowned out by the chatter of machine gun fire.
